More space for bicycle excursionists on trains


Extended capacities on RMV train lines

Get on your bike! In the cycling season from May to the end of October, the RMV increases the capacities on several leisure lines. This way, more bicycles can be taken along on weekends and public holidays in the Lahn valley, Rhön and Nidder valley railway as well as on the RheingauLinie.

RMV train line RB10: Additional offer

  • On Saturdays and Sundays between 1 May and 31 October 2019.
  • 16 trips will be equipped with more carriages on Saturdays and 12 trips on Sundays, so that these trains also offer significantly higher capacities for bicycles.

RMV train line RB34: Additional offer

  • On Sundays and public holidays between 1 May and 31 October 2019, there are two additional trips from “Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof (Frankfurt central station)” at 8.46 a.m. and 10.46 a.m.
  • On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, many trains are operated with additional capacity for taking bicycles along.

Connection to leisure buses

In Glauburg-Stockheim, the Nidder valley railway is connected to routes of the Vogelsberger Vulkan Express (only in german). These leisure buses travel radially from the entire region around Vogelsberg to Hoherodskopf and take you to popular excursion destinations or to the volcano cycle path and the Southern Railway cycle path.

RMV train line RB45: Additional offer

  • On Sundays and public holidays between 1 May  and 31 October  2019.
  • Seven additional trains in each direction between Limburg and Gießen:
    • every two hours from "Limburg” from 9.23 a.m. to 9.22 p.m. towards Gießen,
    • every two hours from "Gießen" from 9.21 a.m. to 9:21 p.m. towards Limburg.
  • 12 bicycle parking racks per train.
  • From 7 July , these trains are expected to run on Sunday and public holidays with double seating capacity and will then have 24 parking racks.

Connection to leisure buses

In Weilburg, you can change to the Weiltal bus (only in german). With this leisure bus with bicycle trailers, you can easily reach starting points in the Weiltal valley for interesting tours in the High Taunus Nature Park.

In Mücke-Flensungen and Lauterbach, there are connections to the routes of the Vulkan Express (only in german). These leisure buses travel radially from the entire region around Vogelsberg to Hoherodskopf and take you to popular excursion destinations or to the volcano cycle path and the Southern Railway cycle path.

RMV train line RB52: Additional offer

  • On Sundays and public holidays between 1 May  and 31 October  2019.
  • Six additional trains in each direction - this will ensure an hourly service at  peak times:
    • every two hours from "Fulda" from 8.20 a.m. to 6.20 p.m.,
    • every two hours from "Gersfeld" from 9.16 a.m. to 7.16 p.m. 
  • The trains each offer 24 bicycle racks.

Connection to leisure buses

  • In Fulda and Gersfeld, the Rhönbahn (Rhön railway) is connected to the RhönRadBus (Rhön cycle bus). This is ideal for Sunday and public holiday excursions from 1 May to 3October  in the Hessian Rhön. The bus travels from Fulda parallel to the Milseburg cycle path to Hilders and further on over the Wasserkuppe to Gersfeld and back.
  • On weekends and public holidays, you can also explore the neighbouring Bavarian Rhön from Gersfeld with the Hochrhönbus (High Rhön bus).
