Questions and answers

RMVgo is our official app for planning your journeys and purchasing RMV mobile tickets. Simply search for connections using start and destination input – or directly via stops and locations.

With the RMV-HandyTicket, you can buy tickets right on your smartphone. This means you always have both your connection and your ticket ready in RMVgo.

Without registering for meinRMV, you can easily purchase single, day, and group day tickets, as well as the Hessenticket, using PayPal.

After registering with meinRMV, you'll have access to additional ticket options like the Germany Ticket, along with more payment methods.

meinRMV is your personal customer portal where you can manage your data and ticket purchases with ease.

RMVgo works with iOS and Android. To install the app, you need the current or one of the last three major versions of your operating system.

  • Internet connection: Required to search for connections and purchase tickets.
  • Location access: Only needed if you want to view nearby stops or use the map feature.
  • Device ID & call information: These permissions help identify your device – ensuring your tickets can be securely assigned.

To view earlier connections, swipe down in the route overview and tap “Earlier connections.”

To view later connections, swipe up and select “Later connections.”

Alternatively, you can adjust the departure time directly and search for a new connection.

Here’s how to add a stopover:

  • First, enter your start and destination. Then tap the plus symbol (+) on the right and select “Add stop.”
  • Use the two bars next to the stops to change the order via drag & drop.
  • Finally, tap “Apply.” Your route will now be shown with the added stopover.

Save your home address in the journey planner under “Stop / Location” as a favorite labeled “Home.”
Alternatively, enable location services and start your search easily via the “My location” button.

How to enable location access:

  • iOS: Go to your app settings and activate location services under “Privacy.”
  • Android: Grant the app permission under “Location.”

Save connections:
Tap the star icon in the connection view to mark a connection as a favorite. You’ll receive a confirmation message: “Favorite successfully added!” Your favorites will appear at the top of the journey planner start page – above your most recently searched connections. You can save multiple favorites.

Save addresses or stops:
Under “Stop / Location,” you can save places like home, work, or your favorite restaurant as favorites with a custom name and icon. Tap “Add favorite,” enter the address or stop, choose a name, and select an icon.

Saved favorites appear at the top of the stop/location search. After selecting one, you can start your route search right away by tapping the “Route” button.

Use the “Edit” button next to your favorites to manage them easily:

  • Reorder your favorites using the two lines on the right with drag & drop.
  • Edit names or icons using the pencil icon.
  • To delete a favorite, tap the red circle.

To stay informed about delays, activate the “Set alarm” function.
Tap and hold the desired connection for at least 3 seconds, or select “Set alarm” in the connection details.

RMVgo shows you all the important information for your journey:

  • In the trip overview, you’ll see forecast times, the arrival platform, and the estimated arrival time at your destination stop.
  • In the connection details, the current position of the vehicle is shown as a blue circle with a white arrow, moving from stop to stop along the route. You can also track the line route on the map.
  • Sharing vehicles like e-scooters appear on the map with their current location and battery level.

Currently, RMVgo includes the following mobility services:

  • E-scooters: Voi, Lime

  • Bicycles: nextbike, meinRad

  • Carsharing: book-n-drive, SHARE NOW, stadtmobil Rhein-Main

At the moment, renting sharing vehicles directly within RMVgo is not yet possible. A future update will add this feature. Until then, you’ll be redirected to the respective provider’s app or website.

The display of parking zones for sharing services is currently not available in RMVgo. A future update will add this feature.

The prices for sharing services in RMVgo are set by the respective providers.
For details on costs and tariffs, please refer to the apps or websites of our mobility partners.

The following on-demand shuttles are currently available in RMVgo:

  • Colibri in Hofheim

With a meinRMV account, using the app becomes even easier – and you benefit from a range of features:
You can view your invoices, top up your RMV-PrepaidRabatt balance, and cancel tickets with just a few taps.

Log in to RMVgo using the email address and password linked to your meinRMV account.
If you experience login issues, please use the RMV-Serviceportal for support.

If you’ve forgotten your meinRMV password, go to the meinRMV login page and click on “Forgot password?”
Then enter your email address. You’ll receive an email with a link to reset your password.

You can find your meinRMV customer number in the app under “More” > “My Account.”

The ticket ID is shown in the control view of the respective ticket. To access it, go to “Tickets”, then “My Tickets”, and select the desired ticket. Alternatively, the ticket ID can also be found on your invoice.

Please note: Tickets purchased via RMVgo can only be used within this app. Transferring them to other apps or chip cards is not possible.

Yes, you can also buy tickets for the transitional fare zones in RMVgo.

Make sure you have a stable internet connection when purchasing your ticket – unstable network access may cause delays during the process.

If your ticket doesn’t appear after purchase or isn’t listed under “Tickets”, refresh the view. If it’s still not visible, go to “More” > “My Account”, log out, and then log back in.

Important: If you bought the ticket while logged in, you must also be logged in to display it during ticket inspection.

If the ticket still doesn’t show up, please use the RMV-Serviceportal and temporarily purchase your ticket through another sales channel – such as a ticket machine.
If a technical error has occurred, the fare may be refunded.

Weekly, monthly, or annual tickets purchased as RMV-HandyTickets can be transferred from your old smartphone to a new one. This also applies to the Deutschland-Ticket once it becomes valid.
The only requirement: you must be logged in with the same meinRMV account on both devices.

  • Log in to RMVgo on your new smartphone using your meinRMV credentials. Under “My Tickets,” tickets still stored on your previous device will be marked with a red exclamation mark.
  • Select the ticket you want to transfer. In the ticket details, you’ll see the message: “This ticket is activated on another device!”
  • Tap “Transfer to this device” to start the process.

You can transfer tickets up to three times per month per meinRMV account.

You can cancel your Deutschland-Ticket in accordance with fare regulations until the 10th of the month, effective at the end of that month. Early cancellation after the start of validity is not possible.

To cancel, go to “My Tickets,” select the Deutschland-Ticket, and tap the “Cancel subscription” button.

If the cancellation doesn’t work, log out via “More” and then “My Account” and log back in. Then check again to see if the cancellation option is available.

If you receive citizen’s benefit (Bürgergeld), housing benefit, social assistance, or are an asylum seeker, you are eligible for the discounted Germany Ticket with the Hessenpass mobil.

To ensure you receive the ticket in time for the start of the month, submit the order form together with your Hessenpass mobil by the 10th of the previous month. You can send the documents to the address listed on the form or hand them in at any RMV sales office.

If you already have a Germany Ticket subscription, cancel it in RMVgo by the 10th of the month to take effect at the end of that month. To do so, go to “My Tickets”, then to the ticket details, and select “Cancel subscription.” Your subscription will end at the end of the month and won’t be renewed.

Please note: The discounted Germany Ticket with Hessenpass mobil is only available as an eTicket on a chip card. You can apply for it online via the RMV TicketShop or by using the order form.
Further information is available on the Hessenpass mobil page.

Without a meinRMV account, you can purchase tickets in RMVgo using Paypal.

If you are logged into RMVgo with your meinRMV account, the following payment methods are available:

  • SEPA direct debit
  • Credit card
  • PayPal
  • RMV-PrepaidRabatt (for discounted purchase of short-distance tickets, single tickets, and single supplements)

Note: The Deutschland-Ticket cannot be purchased via PayPal.

To set up SEPA direct debit in your meinRMV account, you’ll need an active meinRMV account.

Here’s how to add SEPA direct debit as a payment method:

  1. Open the meinRMV customer portal in your browser.
  2. In the menu, go to “RMV-HandyTicket”, then to “Settings,” and select “Change bank details.”
  3. Choose the payment method “Pay with new SEPA direct debit.”
  4. Your bank details will be verified through our partner Tink.

Steps for confirmation:

  • Select the country corresponding to your IBAN (e.g. DE for Germany).
  • Agree to the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy of Tink AB.
  • Select your bank.
  • A login window will appear for your bank’s online banking. Log in using your online banking credentials.
  • Choose the desired bank account.
  • Confirm the new SEPA direct debit mandate.

Your new SEPA payment method is now ready to use for future purchases.

Note: RMV and Tink only receive your IBAN and BIC. Neither party has access to your online banking username or password.
This verification process complies with the EU Payment Services Directive 2 (PSD2) for secure bank account authentication.

In your meinRMV account, you can add SEPA direct debit as a payment method.

For new customers, a limit of €60.00 applies to the ticket price on the first purchase using a SEPA direct debit mandate.
Once the first payment has been successfully processed, this limit is automatically lifted.

Your tickets are stored in RMVgo and can be accessed at any time – even without mobile reception.

  • You’ll find your tickets under “Tickets” > “My Tickets.” In the ticket details of an active ticket, tap the corresponding button to open the control view.
  • The app saves your last ten purchased tickets in chronological order.
  • Advance purchase time-based tickets (e.g. weekly or monthly passes) will only appear in the control view starting from their first valid day.

Important: If you purchased the ticket while logged in, you must also be logged in to show it during inspection. To do this, go to “More” > “My Account.”

When buying a ticket, you enter the first and last name of the person using it. This information is stored in the RMV-HandyTicket.
For ticket inspections, please carry a valid photo ID (e.g. national ID card, passport, or driver’s license).

The excuse “My battery is empty” is not accepted during ticket inspections.
If you are unable to present your RMV mobile ticket, an increased fare will be charged.

According to the General Conditions of Carriage, you must have your valid ticket with you at the start of your journey and be able to present it at any time – this also applies to the RMV mobile ticket.

You don't need an internet connection during ticket inspections, as your tickets are stored directly in RMVgo.

You'll find them under “My Tickets,” where the last ten purchased tickets are saved in chronological order.

The RMV-PrepaidRabatt is a special offer for the RMV-HandyTicket.

When you pay for your single tickets, short-distance tickets, or individual surcharges in the app using a previously loaded balance, you’ll receive a 20% discount.
You can top up your balance in increments of €40.00.

The RMV-PrepaidRabatt is ideal for anyone who doesn’t need a season pass but still wants to save on occasional trips.
It lets you buy tickets flexibly and without a subscription – and gives you 20% off single tickets, short-distance tickets, and individual surcharges.

To use the RMV-PrepaidRabatt, you need a meinRMV account.
You can register easily right in the RMVgo app or online at rmv.de.

If you’re logged into RMVgo with your meinRMV account, go to “My Account” in the menu and select “RMV-PrepaidRabatt.” There, you can top up your balance and check your current amount. After each top-up, you’ll automatically receive an invoice by email.

Payment is processed via your saved payment method – credit card or SEPA direct debit.

Each top-up adds €40.00 to your balance – up to a maximum of €200.00.
You can complete up to five top-ups. For example, if you want to load €80.00, simply make two separate payments.

If your RMV-PrepaidRabatt balance is too low, you won’t be able to purchase the selected ticket with it.
In that case, first top up your balance – the minimum amount is €40.00.

Alternatively, you can request a refund of your remaining balance at any time.

In RMVgo, you can easily request a refund of your RMV-PrepaidRabatt balance.

To do this, go to “My Account” in the menu, then to “RMV-PrepaidRabatt”, and select “Request refund.”
The remaining balance will be transferred to the payment method saved in your meinRMV account.

If you haven’t used the RMV-PrepaidRabatt for 12 months (no top-ups or ticket purchases), your balance will be deactivated.
You’ll automatically receive a reminder email 14 days before this period ends.

If your remaining balance has already been deactivated, please contact us via the RMV- Serviceportal.
We will promptly initiate the refund process.

Your right to a refund is subject to the statutory limitation period under Section 195 of the German Civil Code (BGB).

With the RMV-PrepaidRabatt, you receive 20% off short-distance tickets, single tickets, and individual surcharges when purchasing through RMVgo.

  • In RMVgo, select the ticket you want to purchase. If it’s a short-distance ticket, single ticket, or individual surcharge, you can use the RMV-PrepaidRabatt.
  • Choose RMV-PrepaidRabatt as the payment method. You’ll then see the discounted price and your current balance.
  • Click “Buy ticket” to complete the purchase – the amount will be deducted from your PrepaidRabatt balance, and your ticket will be issued immediately.

Tickets purchased using the RMV-PrepaidRabatt do not appear on your monthly RMV mobile ticket invoice, as they are directly charged to your PrepaidRabatt balance.

If needed, you can generate individual receipts for these tickets.
