Travelling safely on the bus and train - despite the coronavirus pandemic

Due to federal law the so-called 3G rule applies for passengers on buses and trains meaning that passengers must be vaccinated, recovered or tested to ride. Those who have not been vaccinated or have not recovered from a previous Covid infection must show a negative Coronavirus test that was taken no longer than 24 hours ago. Exempted from this rule are children under the age of 6 and school children (not during the school holidays!).

Due to regulation You also have to use medical masks to cover your mouth and nose while using public transport. These include surgical masks or virus-filtering masks complying with the FFP2, KN95 and N95 standards.

Masks must be worn at the following locations:

  • on local buses and trains of public transport
  • in all buildings belonging to public transport such as railway or underground stations,
  • at RMV mobility centres, RMV mobility info centres and other RMV customer centres.

All people from the age of 6 must wear a mouth and nose covering. Only people who are unable to wear a mouth and nose covering for health reasons are exempt from this regulation as well as deaf people and their assistants.
