S3, S4, S5, RB15, RB16 suspended from October 31 to at least December 2

Due to construction work, there will be major disruptions on the S-Bahn lines S3, S4, and S5 as well as the regional train lines RB15 and RB16 from Friday, October 31 until at least Tuesday, December 2.
The exact end date of the construction work by DB InfraGO is not yet known.

The construction is divided into two phases:

Phase 1: S5, RB15, RB16 – October 31 to at least December 2

  • S-Bahn line S5 will operate every 30 minutes, except during early mornings and late evenings, and only between “Frankfurt-Rödelheim Station” and “Frankfurt South Station (Südbahnhof)”.
  • RB15 will not run between “Friedrichsdorf-Köppern Station” and “Bad Homburg Station”.
  • RB16 will be completely suspended.

Reason: Work on the Friedrichsdorf electronic signal box, overhead line maintenance, and platform and switch renewals.

Phase 2: Additional Disruption – November 7 to November 18 (S3, S4, S5, RB15, RB16)

  • S-Bahn lines S3, S4, and S5 will be completely suspended.
  • RB15 will not run between “Friedrichsdorf-Köppern Station” and “Bad Homburg Station”.
  • RB16 will remain completely suspended.

Reason: Overhead line work near Eschborn, switch renewals in Rödelheim, and construction at Galluswarte/Messe.

Rail Replacement Services (SEV)

An extensive rail replacement service (SEV) will be provided, with stops at selected U-Bahn stations to enable convenient transfers.

The following SEV lines will run until at least December 2:

  • Line S15X: Operates four times per hour between “Frankfurt Central Station (Hauptbahnhof)” and “Friedrichsdorf-Köppern Station”.
  • Line S16X: Runs between “Frankfurt Central Station” and “Friedberg Station”, serving Friedrichsdorf and Bad Homburg every 30 minutes.
  • Line S5E: Runs between “Frankfurt-Rödelheim Station” and “Friedrichsdorf Station”, four times per hour, and six times per hour during peak times.

The following SEV lines will run from November 7 to November 18:

  • Line S3E: Operates between “Frankfurt Taunusanlage” and “Eschborn Station”, four times per hour, and six times per hour during peak times.
  • Line S3X: Runs every 30 minutes between “Frankfurt Central Station” and “Bad Soden Station”, and every 15 minutes during peak times.
  • Line S4X: Runs every 30 minutes between “Frankfurt Central Station” and “Kronberg Station”, and every 15 minutes during peak times.

The following SEV lines offer convenient U-Bahn connections at the stations below:

Lines S5E, S15X, and S16X stop at:

  • “Bad Homburg Gonzenheim” – Connection to U-Bahn line U2
    • All buses that would normally terminate at Nieder-Eschbach will be extended to Gonzenheim.
  • “Oberursel” or “Weißkirchen Ost” – Connection to U-Bahn line U3
  • “Frankfurt Festhalle/Messe” – Connection to U-Bahn line U4
  • Lines S3E, S3X, and S4X stop at:

  • “Festhalle/Messe” – Connection to U-Bahn line U4
  • Additional Bus Option:

Passengers traveling between Bad Soden and Frankfurt can use express bus line X11, which runs between “Bad Soden Station” and “Frankfurt-Höchst Station”.

  • Line S3E will have additional booster trips every 10 minutes between “Frankfurt West Station” and “Eschborn Station”:
    • Towards Eschborn: 07:00 to 09:00
    • Towards Frankfurt West: 15:30 to 18:00
  • Additional services will also run on lines S15X and S16X for school transport.
