Tips & tricks

Which mobile phones are suitable?

  • Many types of mobile phone including iPhones, Android-based smartphones and BlackBerry are suitable for the RMV HandyTicket
  • You can check whether that also applies to your mobile phone before registering using our helpful RMV HandyCheck service

Buying tickets the easy way

  1. Start the RMV HandyTicket program respectively RMV app.
  2. Select “Ticket purchase” from the menu.
  3. Enter the stop you are starting from and your destination stop.
  4. Select the type of ticket you require.
  5. When you confirm the purchase, you’ll find your ticket in “Ticketsaver”.

Get there faster – with your own Favourites

  • There’s no need to input your starting point, destination and type of ticket manually when you save your frequent routes as “Favourites” during the registration procedure
  • These are then transmitted to your mobile phone together with the RMV HandyTicket program
  • When using the RMV app, you can download your Favourites by calling up the “Favourites” point and updating your list of Favourites

What happens at ticket inspections?

The ticket is saved to your mobile phone. Therefore, you can always show it even when you do not have any reception:

  1. Start the RMV HandyTicket program respectively your RMV app.
  2. Select “Ticketsaver” on the menu and open the ticket for the journey.
  3. Show the ticket inspector the ticket.

Ticket inspectors will not accept “Run out of charge” as an excuse and you will be penalised as if for fare-dodging.

What does the RMV HandyTicket cost?

  • The ticket itself costs the same as the corresponding paper ticket
  • The RMV HandyTicket software itself is free of charge. The HandyTicket is downloaded via GPRS and is charged by your mobile network provider according to volume. The cost therefore depends on your contract with your mobile network provider. The volume of the application is approx. 85 KB. The volume for a ticket is approx.1 KB.

Looking to the future

More functions will be available to you with our future updates. For example, we are looking to incorporate BahnCard discount and the purchase of children’s tickets via the RMV app. You’ll experience more improvements to our user-friendly service, and the app functions on the various mobile phone and smartphone platforms will be harmonised.
